That 500:1 contrast ratio is unbelievably unacceptable. No one - and I do mean NO ONE - should be purchasing a TV with that level of a contrast ratio in 2020. Those are 2004 numbers. Those are “I am happy to have a 720p HDTV so I can play with my Xbox 360 until the PS3 comes out” numbers.
But we have seen this with all LCDs that have 8K. Samsung’s 8K offerings have substantially raised black levels, complete with blooming artifacts that do not show on their 4K counterparts.
The only reason to get the Samsung Q900 is simply because that design is out of this world gorgeous, it gets bright - and sustains that brightness until the point that your retinas are burned out.
I dunno bros. I think 2018 was the peak year for LED LCD TVs. And the Q9FN was it’s crowning achievement.
Since then, it has been nothing but compromise - and now, it is flat out failing as a technology.
RIP LCD.
All hail QDOLED.
Then after that, MicroLED.
