I know this probably doesn’t matter, but I disagree with rtings comparing this tv to the c805 in Europe. That tv has a much lower nits output, compared to the QM7.

If you look at the C765 in the EU, it almost matches this tv’s specs perfectly. The webpage also publishes the dimming zone count for each size of that series of tv. It’s right above a picture where it’s talking about QD-mini LED. 720 I 1008 I 1248 I 1536 I 1536

Very happy I got this TV when it was on sale For $500 (55”). Seems like a steal and works awesome with the Series X. Looks like it’s back on sale at Amazon and Best Buy.

I just bought an Xbox series X, just to try it out with this tv and the visuals, and audio going to a receiver are pretty amazing. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I hadn’t gamed with any of this generation of consoles, and I’ve had a blast the last couple weeks. $500 is a great deal for the 55”

This is incorrect. The QM751G may be a line-up similar to a relatively cheaper Chinese model called the Q9K, which may come out as the C765. The C855 may be similar to a Chinese model called the Q10K, and may be a higher tier model with a significant difference from the Q9K.

A couple people who own and have tested their 55QM751G, said they are almost certain this model has around 720 dimming zones. (Measured vertical and horizontal tests) This makes me think the closest model outside the USA, would be the C765 series, also. This series has around the same amount of nits listed when compared to this model, also. But just an educated guess.

One thing I forgot to mention: the remote control is great. One of the best I’ve used. Backlit, very responsive and the layout is easy to use.

Also let me know what you think of the qm7 in comparison to the r635

TL;DR This tv is an excellent performing tv. I will be keeping it, and this is replacing an older OLED now. It blows the r635 away, also. Extremely happy with this set.

Ok, the TV was delivered yesterday from BestBuy. The box didn’t even have on dent on it. It was very shocking to see a tv box in mint condition LOL. I used a few test images to look at the panel uniformity, and it’s pretty good. Don’t see any banding, bad uniformity, etc. The tv was pretty easy to wall mount, if you have the correct screws and mounting bracket. I went ahead and replaced my old LG OELD55C6P with this 55QM751G. I have an older TCL 55R635 in a bedroom, and it’s been a great tv. Not perfect, but I’ve really liked it and the Roku operating system, on that tv.

I purchased the QM7 because the price was just too good to pass up, IMHO ($499). This tv, for me, was worth every penny I paid for it. The LG was around $1500 in 2016 when I bought it. The R635 was $649 when I purchased it. Out of the box there a ton of settings to mess with on this tv. I’m not a Google fan. I’m in the Apple ecosystem with everything I own. I was very hesitant about this tv’s OS being Google TV. It was extremely easy to setup. The OS let me log into my accounts and speed up the process some, and I will compliment the GTV implementation.

The menu system is fairly nice. It’s not bad at all, coming from a Roku OS. Again, a lot more options, it seems like. I’ve watched all kinds of programming within the Google TV interface, and from my latest gen Apple TV 4K streaming box. I’ve watched Dolby Vision, SDR, HDR10+, HFR HDR, and broadcast 1080i signal. I use Hulu, Paramount+, Apple TV+, Max, Prime Video, Starz, Youtube, Disney+, and Netflix for streaming and I’ve tried to test them all as much as I could in the last 24 hours, with some good test scenes.

Some of these streamers, such as Hulu, don’t stream in 4k HDR in the Google TV interface. Some of the apps don’t even label the content correctly as HDR content. Shame on these streaming companies for releasing under par apps for the GTV. This could be a big letdown for some. I don’t have any of these problems with the ATV. The apps on the ATV are just superior when it comes to this, and the updates/bug fixes to the apps are quite often. The HDR content I did watch in the Google TV interface was really good, when it was available. SDR content on Youtube looked fairly good to me, also. There are times when the GTV interface is sluggish. I tried watching some 4K HDR 60fps content on YouTube, and it brought down the OS to a sluggish crawl. I tried this several times, and even tried rebooting the tv. I also made sure all the apps were updated and the firmware was updated to the latest version V097.

Other than the lack of HDR compatibility with some of the streaming apps, and the laggy GTV interface, at times, it’s not a bad system for a tv’s OS. I could live with it, if I had to. Now I’m in no way a profession video calibrator, just an A/V enthusiast, at heart. I’m using a Denon AVR x-4300h audio receiver with a 5.2.4 Atmos speaker setup, and an ATV box for my daily system setup. I like to use the Game mode when connecting an external device to a receiver and tv. It seems to process the video signal less and I get zero audio lip sync issues, using this setting. I’ve had zero lip sync issues with this tv, so far. (using the google interface and the apple interface) Movie mode is equally good.

Picture quality. This tv, in a lot of ways, blows my LG OLED from 2016 out of the water. Will it stand up to a 2024 OLED? Maybe. My LG always impressed me with picture quality. When the burn in and color started fading, in sections of the tv, it just made it unwatchable any longer. I did have over 10,000 hours on the tv, though. I’m going to try giving it away and see if anyone wants it, to save from trashing it. The HDR content on this tv is just amazing. I watch most of my tv viewing in a darkened room, with curtains closed. This tv is extremely bright. Extremely. Colors are amazing. 24fps playback is excellent. Motion judder, for me, is very good. I’ve only played with the tv’s setting a tiny bit. I haven’t went in and changed a lot of the advanced settings. I just turned some of the settings off, and adjusted other settings, slightly. Out of the box, DV settings are pretty good. I played scenes of movies on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has an excellent OLED screen, and compared it, in real time to the TCL and they were just about identical. I haven’t experienced any black crush. I can’t wait to see the rtings.com review of this tv, and then tinker around a little more with the advanced settings.

I don’t particularly like motion blur, judder or whatever you want to call it. I don’t like setting up a tv with the terrible ‘soap opera’ effect. I just will not do it. (it is good for sports sometimes, though) Some panning camera scenes in movies are just going to have some ‘judder’ to them. When I go to my local Dolby Vision cinema which has a great laser HDR projector, it still has some of these effects on certain camera panning scenes. It’s just the nature of 24fps. I’ve seen little to no blooming on this set. Maybe a little in a white on black background, opening credits scene. Maybe. It’s so extremely hard to see any, that if it’s there, it’s so minimal that it doesn’t bother me. Black bars on 16:9 content looked black to me and I have no complaints about them being washed out. I watched some sports. (ice hockey and football, and they both looked great to me) Now, I’ve just hit 50 years of age and my perfect vision I had all my life, isn’t so perfect any longer. I’m judging this tv with my eyes, and how I see things now, not like when I was 25 years old. (I was a LOT more critical when I was younger. Now, not so much. Life’s too short to worry about perfection all the time)

So, I’ll put it this way. I love this TV. TCL tv’s just keep getting better and better. I can’t imagine how much better the QM851 one is with more dimming zones, when this one is pretty outstanding to me. This tv blows away my older TCL 55R635. I’ll probably buy another one of these to replace it one day. This tv excels at HDR content. YouTube SDR looked pretty good to me, also. Broadcast television looked about as good as you’d expect it. I’ve always believed, garbage in, garbage out, when it comes to what you’re trying to play. You can try and make it look better, but I’m fine with SDR most of the time. I like streaming all of my content from an outside player, always have and always will. The GTV interface is very good. The app selection is great. I don’t have any complaints with the Google OS, except for it being a little sluggish at times. I may come back and update this post in a month, if anything changes with how I feel about this tv.

For now, this is one of the best tv’s I’ve ever used. I may not be using the correct terminology for some of the things I tried to explain here, and I’m not worried about it. I just tried to explain it the best I could. Maybe I won the ‘panel lottery’ LOL. As with anything in life, your mileage may vary, when checking out this tv. I won’t argue that some have not liked this television for their own reasons. For me, this is one of the best tvs, for the value out there. Have fun with your tv’s!

You and I are in the literal same boat, I am coming from a 65 inch r635 and am currently saving up for a qm7! Let me know what you think of it when you get it

I def will. Give me a couple days after it’s delivered, and I’ll be sure to come back and post. I also have an older LG OLED55C6P, which I have absolutely loved from 2016-17, but it has such bad image retention and a greenish tinge to the picture now, that I’ll probably go with another TCL QM7 or QM8 from this year to replace it, if the one I just purchased turns out to be really good. Still keeping my R635 around, also. It’s been a great tv.

I went ahead and bit the bullet for the 55” QM751. The sale price just seems too good to be true, so early since it’s been released. I’m coming from a TCL 55R635, with I believe 160 dimming zones. Idk why TCL USA is always so hesitant to list the amount of dimming zones for each tv. If you look at the European version, which I believe is closest to the C765, it’ lists 720 zones for the 55”. Hoping for that amount in the US model, but haven’t seen anyone really confirm this info. One Reddit poster did say they calculated 720 zones.

Being delivered Monday and I’ll be messing with settings for days, I’m sure. Surprised I haven’t seen too many posts on the QM7’s on any of the other forums. Only a few owner posts. Looking forward to rtings review one day in the future. Also wonder if this tv will stay this price or jump back up a few hundred dollars. I say BB’s tv sales end Sunday and Walmart has been out of stock for this tv for at least a few days. Amazon is backed up, too. Looking forward to others comments on this tv.
