1440P 120hz via PC

Were custom timings required to get 1440p at 120hz working on the Q8FN connected to a PC?

Hooking up to a high end gaming PC with a GTX 1080 with an HDMI 2.0 cable I see (and get) 4K at 60hz and 1080p at 120hz just fine but the max refresh rate listed via the Nvidia control panel for 2560x1440 is 30hz.

Attempting to create a custom resolution that matches the “VESA CVT” spec listed in the manual doesn’t seem to work. The manual also states that that resolution “* may not be available on all models”. Samsung email/phone support couldn’t clear this up for me. Is 1440P at 120hz supported on the 55"?
