Does the difference in how TV’s process this matter if you’re using something like a PS5 to stream? Does it do any processing of it’s own?

No, the PS5 doesn’t do any processing of its own for streaming apps. It also doesn’t support Dolby Vision on streaming apps, whereas if you have a TV that supports DV, the built-in apps will support it. Built-in apps also work better when it comes to switching between SDR and HDR, displaying the content in the proper frame rate, and you use less power using the built-in apps versus the PS5. I’d recommend sticking to the TV’s built-in apps for streaming content. Thanks!

Almost all streaming services can be considered “low quality”. Even if you’re paying for the highest tier on Netflix, the streams are heavily compressed and compression artifacts are very obvious. The exception would be SONY PICTURES CORE, which streams at 3-4x the bandwidth of Netflix and other streaming services. Generally speaking, if compression artifacts bother you, you’re better off going with physical media.

  3. We’re looking to buy a 77" OLED TV, but unfortunately we lost the panel lottery in Australia and the 77" S90D in Australia has a WOLED instead of a QD-OLED. Would you still recommend the S90D over the G4 for value if the S90D screen is a WOLED without MLA? We also want to pair it with the Q990D soundbar. Would that change anything? Is Q-Symphony worth choosing a S90D if it doesn’t have QD-OLED?

Hello! Help with personalized buying advice is something our experts offer only via our insider forums. We do have lots of self-service tools and recommendation articles that should be helpful as well though!

What would be considered a low quality stream? I assume Netflix would be a “high quality” if there aren’t any bandwidth constraints?
