I doubt rtings still have the B7 in their test lab.

The Xbox scans for any DV 60Hz support not a specific DV 60Hz game mode as I understand it (unless something has changed).

The reason why Xbox warns you might have high latency is probably down to the fact that a) your TV might default to DV cinema instead of game. b) your TV lacks support for DV game mode.

LG released firmware updates to some TV’s so Xbox DV should default to DV game mode but I’m unsure how far they went back with that. Other manufactures may need to update/optimize their DV profiles.

If you have a smartphone or camera capable of 240fps video record you could do something like this and get a rough idea between the regular HDR and DV mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2vOZqvZ36U

Given how LG treated HDR10 on the 7 series in games it sometimes produced a darker/dim image (corrected on 8 series), I wonder if the DV mode corrects that, Sea of Thieves was one of the culprits but I don’t own Xbox anymore so cant tell myself.

    Hey all!

Unfortunately, as clear2skies said, we no longer have the B7 we purchased, so we wouldn’t be able to double check this. Thanks for sharing your insight though! :)

Thanks for the phone tip. I’m going to try that today. The B7A does support a DV Game Mode. The problem was that it still had latency in an older firmware. When I updated to the latest firmware, at least some of the latency went away. The phone tip should help me determine if it was a placebo effect.

Thanks for the response! It’s good to see that Rtings still monitors these threads.

I’d love to see Dolby Vision game mode input lag as a standard measurement going-forward.

I recently got the feature on my XB Series X, but it’s unusable because of how laggy it feels on my X90J.

Noted! We’ll add this to our test bench suggestions for consideration in future updates! :)
