I been waiting for almost a year for this release. It’s rating would be appreciated.
I’m also very interested in seeing this one reviewed. Side by side comparison with the TCL Q7 would be really helpful.
This is going to be a top tv, the price is insanely low but we need a review to see how it actually performs.
From what I have seen this is going to be a midship display with some great flagship features. You guys do some of the best non biased reviews out there, and we would all like to see your verdict
I want to know how this compares to the U7H series. Is the new U7K on par with last year’s U8H with the mini LEDs?
I seen this TV on amazon as Hisense 55U78KM I assume its the same as U7K? Hope you can review it as the other tv I do want to get is never around and you gave that other tv i want to get better reviews than the other tv’s i’ve come across from Hisense.
I would like to compare the K series to the H series.
if this tv gets reviewed it would be helpful, since i’m debating between this tv and the q7 from tcl.
We’ve purchased the product and are waiting for it to arrive in our lab.
Excited to see you reviewing the U7K. I was dead set on the U8H for over a year, but the price has never came down to what I was willing to pay (love a good TV, but I’m cheap). The U7K is already at a price I’d pay and seems like a comparable U8H lite. Ultimately, it looks like it’ll be the U7K or Q7 for me and just waiting on reviews for both to help figure out which. Thx for what you guys do!

is Hisense 55U78KM the same thing as U7K?
Even though I’ve already purchased the 75U78KM I’m really looking forward to the review. I am coming from a Vizio M658-g1 and so far I’m really happy with the upgrade. I still personally prefer the overall final image from my Vizio, probably due to it’s 10 bit panel, but there is no doubt that this TV outperforms it everywhere else. It’s really too bad the Hisense doesn’t come with a 10 bit panel, I feel like it would have rounded out the other features.
I think that this model will competently handle that sweet spot on price and performance but hopefully we get a review for the U88KM from you before my Costco return runs out, just on the off chance that there’s a notable difference for that extra $500.
So far my only real gripe is that I’ve got my Xbox Series X directly connected, for peak performance, and the bloody TV keeps dropping it’s connection to my receiver on start up. This leaves me having to choose output via eARC on the Hisense over and over. I wish it would give me the option of forcing the output for that input. Heck I’d even be happy with just forcing the output across the board. The Xbox is my main device, forcing eARC would allow me to only reset about 1/30th the amount of times I currently do. I hate smart connections, they aren’t half as smart as they think they are.

Is your panel a VA panel or ADS?
Hoping the 75’s have the same ADS-Pro panel that the u8k 75 inches have, waiting on mine to get delivered.
Ended up buying this one myself in 75" for $979.99 to get ready for the NFL Football season. Looking forward to the review to see how it compares to TCL!

So am I. But sadly it was lowered to $999.99 the day before. And that’s when I purchased mine. Then Best Buy lowered their prices so Amazon lowered theirs to compete.. all before I even received mine. But so far the TV looks amazing. Several areas of improvement over last years U7H 75" which I also own.
The product has arrived in our lab, and our testers will start evaluating it soon.
Waiting for this review. Also, the comparison with u8k.
Just got my Hisense 75" U7K delivered and mounted by Best Buy. Daytime watching sports, looks great. Just an eye test, but set to Standard, turned off motion clairty and I was fine with that, to me. Netflix Dolby Vision “The Gray Man”, the opening fight scene looked good with bright highlights with fireworks going off as they fought. Anime like VInland Saga, despite only being 1080p looks great, so any sort of content smoothing, to me, looks great too! My only knock is the off axis viewing angles, you see the blooming, especially in Netflix with subtitles on. From dead center, testing out Dolby Vision “Raya and the Last Dragon” on VUDU in UHD, it looked really good, with just a tiny bit of bloom– Nothing I would complain about, especially at 75" for $979.99. Coming from a Hisense U6GR, I’m loving the upgrade in size, picture quality and especially having Google TV built in, as opposed to the Google TV stick, having to grab the Roku TV remote to adjust picture settings. Will compare to other TVs as the reviews are released, but great first impressions, and just in time to see starters play in Week 3 preseason before the regular season in two weeks! LFG

Lol that’s exactly why I just bought the 55"! I was so tempted to go TCL since it’s an NFL sponsor but this one looked too good to pass up. Was hoping they’d have the review up by now. Feels like a gamble til then :)
Any update if the 75" uses the same or similar panel as the 75" u8k? The ADS Pro panel?
Any update on when the review will be posted?

Hi there,
Kyle here from the display testing team. One of our testers has starting testing on the U7K today, actually! With the long weekend coming up, that will likely push the completion of the review into the 2nd week of September. So around the 8th or 11th is the most likely scenario.
We appreciate your patience, and thanks for reaching out!
Our testers have started testing this product; is there anything specific you’re looking to see? Let us know in this thread.
Ayyy! Just signed up for Insider on time. I’ve been using the U7K for almost 2 weeks now and think in bright scenes of movies, it’s great. In darker moments, messing with Local DImming on High always, and mixing the Active COntrast between Medium and High, I still notice the black bars being a little cloudy even when above it is black or dark, so curious how your unit compares to what I see. Also, how this compares to the TCL Q7, as while I got this because of the miniLEDs and higher zone count, the off axis blooming is really not great, so seems like a VA miniLED panel is worse than an ADS-IPS miniLED panel like the Hisense U8K, as in stores the 75" has good viewing angles, while my 75" Hisense U7K has what I assume is that bad glow you explained on some of your monitor reviews for the COoler Master GP27U and a few others. Pretty much, I have 60 days from delivery to decide if this U7K is better than the TCL Q7, and mostly wanna see how it handles local dimming and dark scenes, despite having a little less zones (I believe the 75" TCL Q7 is a little over 200 FALD zones, and the 75" U7K is 384 miniLED zones).

Sorry Joycon I had a little trouble following what you wrote. Are you saying that due to off Axis blooming you believe the u7k is a VA panel? In the middle of your writing you say “so it seems VA miniled panel is worse than the ADS-IPS miniLEd panel like the Hisense U8K”. Is that stating you believe the uk7 75" is VA and the u8k 75" is ADS, or were you throwing the TCL Q7 into that sentence.

Sorry for not proofreading my thoughts rambled into text haha.
I work in a Best Buy, and shop there too. They have the 75" Hisense U8K on display, chest level on an endcap, and if you look at any angle, especially way off where your staring at either left or right bezel frame, it looks good and no color loss or visible bloom. Granted, this is in a bright environment, so any bloom might not be as visible in a dark room, but I believe the 75" U8K is ADS-IPS, or something that has great viewing angles.
Seeing the 65" Hisense U7K on display, they have it on their big screen wall, and it’s on the top row, far right. Makes it hard to tell viewing angles from below and all. Right below the 65" U7K is TCL’s Q7, which makes it easier to see off axis viewing angles, and even down to the demo content they show, Hisense shows bright, colorful images almost full screen, where TCL shows demos with tons of dark area aroudn bright colorful objects– Think of LG or Samsung demos where they show a peach or kiwi up close with about 60% black surrounding it.
I have the 75" Hisense U7K mounted on my wall in my home gym, and from dead center it’s a great picture, but in the letter boxing of movies, where someone’s white shirt or a light source is just in frame, I notice a little blooming in the black letter boxes around that area. Nothing terrible, but enough to notice it. When I get up to grab a Coke Zero in a mini fridge to the left of the TV mounted, I notice TERRIBLE haloing/blooming around the subtitles. But if I’m… maybe dead center to as wide as maybe 50 or so degrees from that point it’s fine, but one half step from there and I can notice both the color drop off, and that blooming show a bit until I’m staring along the border of the TV and can see that miniLED haloing at it’s worst. I mentioned in a comment that the RTINGS crew reviewed a few miniLED monitors and made a better worded comment than I did about this effect, and having tried the Acer XV27K, can confirm it’s the same effect at that wide of an angle as the Hisense U7K. Granted, the Acer monitor is IPS, and the Hisense is VA, but SOMETHING with miniLED at wide viewing angles shows terrible haloing/blooming. Better to see in person or video than to describe I guess.
I had personal network issues ONLY with the Hisense U7K within 10 days of being setup, so I wanted to exchange it. Saw the TCL Q7 was $20 more, is a standard VA FALD display, and seeing it in person, they have an eye level 75" TCL Q7 at best buy, doing my best to see how blacks and any possible blooming look off axis, it looked fine to me, so I setup a return/exchange to swap to own the TCL Q7 instead.
I’ll try and report any differences I can, and if RTINGs allows uploads or links to Google Drive or Photos, can maybe try to capture what I mean.
I have noticed an interesting, at least to me, aspect in stats between the 7 and 8 series. The weight of the unit, minus stand, begs some questions. The 55 inch U7K and U8K difference is 10.6 lbs which may be owing to the U8K having different speakers and a slightly more powerful amp at 50 watts versus 40 for the U7K so the amp itself may account for some of the difference along with speaker components. Also the TV power consumption is different at 170 watts versus 220 for the U8K. Maybe that entails more weight or maybe not. But that 10.6 lbs of difference seems like a larger difference than one might expect for mostly the audio upgrade at such a low wattage difference.
The 65 inch and 75 inch show differences of 13.1 lbs. and 17 lbs. respectively in same size comparison and the audio system specs seem to remain the same. So having placed the audio system weights as a constant in size for size increase then what accounts for the additional discrepancy size to same size? The 65 inch power draw is 220 watts for the U7K and 260 watts for the U8K. The top size 75 inch power draw is 260 watts versus 330 watts. So is there a heat sink matter here etc. accounting for the weight? The 75 inch U7K weighs in at 62.4 lbs. and the U8K at 79.4 lbs. That means the U8K goes 27%+ more weight than the similar sized U7K. Curious to me what accounts for that. I would think the general framing is similar. You have to have a whole lot of plastic to get to 17 lbs. so I wouldn’t think it’s that. There is no indication from Hisense of any internal component differences in the series between the 7 and 8 with the exception of the audio systems. Of course one series performs higher than the other but does that difference account for the weight discrepancy of that much? The percentages across the series are roughly the same except for the 55 inch which shows a 34%+ variation.

Appreciate the in depth review. Still have just one single question I’m not sure of, are you saying the Hisense U7K is a VA panel. The only reason I’m asking very specifically is a decent amount of people are saying in forums (reddit, avsforum, post above) that they believe the 75" U7K has the same or very similar ADS/IPS panel as the U8K. You saying in the third paragraph that if you go past 50 degrees off Axis you see color shift, and you say the Hisense is VA (you are talking about your 75", you are sure its VA) . We know the 55" and 65" are def VA but there is different opinions of the 75" being VA or ADS. Here the person says they are almost sure its a ADS panel. https://www.avsforum.com/threads/2023-hisense-u8k-owners-thread.3279302/page-101#post-62761160
Checked all the u6k models Costco has on display and the 55 and 65 look to be VA and the 77 seems to be IPS. Based on viewing angles and tapping test.

Best Buy just swapped out the TVs, so I can’t do a tapping test on it, but I’m almost sure it is VA. I say that because at wide angles, colors shift off, and looking at the 75" U8K on display at Best By, there is no color shift. Coming from someone who has a 55" LG B8 OLED in their bedroom (2018 model), a Sony X850C in family room (55", VA) and now a TCL Q750G 75" in home gym. Also have dual monitor setup, one being an IPS Gigabyte M32U and another being a secondary display, Acer VG271UP IPS panel. Maybe it’s different per market, as that link is a Latin American manual??
Regardless, I’ll test tonight in the dark how this TCL Q7 fares when it comes to bloom overall, and especially at wide off axis viewing, as 100% the Hisense U7K miniLED was atrocious when it came to that, and I have some video clips on my iPhone about that specifically.
any update on testing?

Someone I messaged through YouTube comment section believes his 75" U7K is a VA panel. And he said it does not have great viewing angles. Still would like to see one myself but after your replies and this other person I’m leaning towards it def being a VA panel. However in the same comment section someone said how great this is and he is amazed that this has the same ADS Pro panel as the U8K. Looks like I will have to see if there are any great deals on OLED panels during Black Friday or step up to the U8K.

Not sure if those people can comment on what they know or don’t, or their knowledge, but I have an OLED in my bedroom (LG B8 2018 model), and I know I know tech as much if not more than most people I know– I know VA when I see it. Another thing I can comment is HDTVtest just released a video today about Hisense’s 2024 flagship, UXN, and in the comparison, he doesn’t say it’s the U7K, but does say the panel is a 1,000 nit 2023 miniLED panel, which is the Hisense, and the off angle viewing and blooming off axis he shows of both is more in line with what I saw in person and confirms to me if you want better blooming control with miniLED, you NEED an ADS Pro panel, NOT just a VA one.
Watching sports and action scenes in apps is super blocky and pixelated, maybe im just missing what settings to use though.
Excited to see you reviewing the U7K. I was dead set on the U8H for over a year, but the price has never came down to what I was willing to pay (love a good TV, but I’m cheap). Thx for what you guys do!
Same.. I have been camping the U8H to see if it drops even $100 but now that the U7K is less than $550 I have to pounce. Other sites use language almost exactly like they use here for the 8H. And since the 7k is technically newer I am hoping it should be good to go.
Any chance of the U7K review being posted within the next 24 hours?… I have both a Hisense U7K 65” and a TCL Q7 65” sitting in my garage and i have to choose which 1 of the 2 that I want to have mounted in my living room tomorrow morning… I have been hoping to see your U7K review before i choose which tv to mount but i am running out of time.. i have wireless internet and i will be using the tv to stream and predominantly watch TV, Movies, and Sports.. i saw your review of the Q7 and it scored an overall 7.7 which i was pleased about but the TV & Sports categories scored a little lower than i was expecting.. i saw that the Hisense U8K scored an overall 8.5 and the TCL QM8 scored an overall 8.3, both are very respectable scores, but the Hisense U8K scored higher in the TV/Sports/Movies categories than the TCL QM8 did and those are the categories that matter most to me.. I don’t want to base my decision between the U7K and Q7 off of your reviews and scores of the U8K and QM8, but i am running out of time.. so if there is any chance of the U7K review coming out before tomorrow morning it would be very much appreciated.. you guys do amazing work and i trust your opinion and reviews over any of these youtube videos and blogs
I am a novice when it comes to TV’s, but what was essential to me picking out a TV was a wide viewing angle for my living room. I bought the U7K 75 and this thing rocks. Based on extensive research this seems to have an IPS panel and my tv seems to keep all the quality when viewed from an angle. Does the brightness leave a bit to be desired? Sometimes. But other than that, love this tv.

What extensive research you’ve done that leads you to determine it’s a IPS panel? I need a IPS as well for the living room and good viewing angles. . 3 people I’ve spoke to through different forum messages say it has poor off axis color change which would indicate its a VA panel.
Where are you located? The people I spoke to said US models.
Initial review mirrors my findings. Excellent TV for the price. Comes very close to my 65" LG CX (but not quite) and the performance to price is spot on for me. Off angel viewing is the biggest downfall but doesn’t affect my use thankfully. Other one has been some app crashes (Netflix) but I am sure that software updates will help with this. As others said it is a bit silly that we need to specifically ENABLE 144hz VRR mode when it should just be on by default for the two HDMI 2.1 ports which accept this input. Basically impossible to find a 65" 4k 144hz VRR panel for ~700$ and this TV has been wonderful for me so far. Yes, a 1400$-2000$ OLED or the 1000$ U8K will outperform it but from what I have seen the U8K would be the only one potentially to compete in the value for money category (but it’s still ~43% more money!). I have a high end PC (7900xtx+ 5800x3D) and this TV met all my needs for an oversized gaming monitor. I look forward to the calibration settings so I can really let this TV shine. Thanks again for the great reviews RTINGS!!!!

I am in the US. I’ve looked at a lot of different forums that seem to confirm my suspicion. The IPS panel is exclusive to the 75 inch model, the 65 and 55 are VA. I think the U8k is the same way.

Research again, or you impossibly got one that slipped through.
I myself bought in the USA on August 12, delivered and set up on wall August 23 from Best Buy USA a 75" Hisense U7K. Immediately off axis could tell it was a VA panel– I would bet money on that, and anyone going against that is 99.99999& wrong, or 0.0000001% got the SINGLE unit that Hisense manufactured as IPS. That’s just me being nice, but being honest, anyone saying anything different is ignorant and can’t tell the difference.
Also, for the other poster asking between the Hisense U7K or TCL Q7, IMO, go with the TCL Q7. The ONLY thing worse on the TCL over the Hisense is the built-in speakers. The Hisense U7K I would have at 25 and be fine, where the TCL Q7 I would be at 40-45 and be about same, but less bass. Either way, now it doesn’t matter to me as I bought an open box Samsung Q750B 5.1.2 soundbar setup for $202.99 since it was clearance and open box fair condition with minor cosmetic scratches. Regardless, the contrast, black levels and visible bloom off axis and MILES better than the Hisense U7K. Want to prove it from this own site we enjoy without spending time or money seeing for yourself? Open side by side the Blooming test picture and notice how much more blooming you see around the subtitles, and notice how it’s more apparent because it has a white-tone cast, where the TCL Q7 is more of a blue-cast and more controlled. 100% my experience, and movie watching where 95% of movies have black bars, the TCL Q7 is a better dark room performer.
Not trying to come off as a jerk, but also hate any misinformation that may cause confusion for shoppers, especially from people who say “i have done extensive research” with no receipts or proof. Stop.
Curious to see what rtngs note in their review, BUT Hisense confirmed to me the panel is IPS on U7K. ✌🏻
Research again, or you impossibly got one that slipped through. I myself bought in the USA on August 12, delivered and set up on wall August 23 from Best Buy USA a 75" Hisense U7K. Bought mine from Costco and mine passes the knock/smudge test so I’m not convinced about that VA panel talk.
