I disagree with your high marks for the MX Keys Keyboard backlighting feature.
I’m a designer and front-end developer and prefer to work in lower levels of lighting. The illuminated keys was probably the primary feature I purchased this keyboard for.
First, the backlight is controlled be proximity sensors built into the keyboard which are suppose to turn the backlight on as your hands approach the keyboard (in order to save battery life). They do not activate until my hands are practically or actually touching the keyboard. Not being able to see the keys until my hands are already on the keyboard defeats the purpose of this feature. Hours searching the web and some back and forth support tickets with Logitech has confirmed there is no fix for this.
Second) There are some brightness controls for the illumination. For some reason, however - and this may just be a malfunction of my particular keyboard, if I leave the keyboard inactive for, say 10mins or so, to read some documentation, the brightness level resets itself to 0 and I have to manually return it to full brightness. This occurs even when the keyboard is fully charged. So far, support tickets from Logitech have not returned a solution.
Because of the premium price, despite other strengths, I have decided to return the one I purchased
