Hey everybody! Thanks for touching on this in the review; I thought I could add some insight here as Iโm one of the poor clods experiencing the issue (on a M50Q7-H1).
Best as I can tell, the issue has to do with sound coming into the TV via HDMI inputs: Iโve tested content on the native SMARTCAST app plus the apps on my PlayStation and Roku, which are plugged in via HDMI. The native version plays the audio perfectlyโitโs only an issue when coming in through HDMI. Iโve tried different cables, plugging different devices into different ports, and watching the content with and without a soundbar, and the issue is consistent as long as itโs not coming in from another device.
At one point, Vizio sent a tech out to swap out the motherboard, then told me it was a defective unit and sent me a replacement; when the issue started happening on the replacement model (right out of the box), I was told itโs now a firmware issue (current version on the TV is 1.10.15.5-4; system update indicates that this is up-to-date).
Have the same issue with our M50Q7-H1. Very glad I found this review after spending a good amount of time adjusting audio output settings on my laptop.
Reassuring to know itโs not a technical issue, but really hoping Vizio fixes this issue in a future update.
