Is it better to buy a soundbar system from the same brand as the TV? I have a LG G3 and thinking of waiting and buying the upcoming LG S95TR for it but from what I read Samsung Q990C or the upcoming Q990D are better performers when it comes to soundbar.
What functions will I miss if link a LG OLED to a Samsung or other brand’s soundbar?
Hi,
For the LG S65Q Soundbar I have it as you recommended on Treble 3 and Bass -5, did you guys set the WF and C for calibration?
Hi! It’s absolutely fine to enable ‘Peak Brightness’ in SDR. I myself sometimes enable it on my LG C2, although I mostly leave it off in SDR. SDR content is typically mastered at 100 nits, so the TV is quite able to accurately reproduce all SDR content with the ‘Peak Brightness’ setting set to ‘Off’. But if you’d like your TV to stretch its legs when it comes to brightness, you can absolutely enable it. A lot of these settings come down to personal preferences; in my case I just mostly leave the TV on the Cinema picture mode while enabling the AI picture modes, as I’m not an accuracy purist. But if you care about the content being portrayed exactly as the content creator intended you’ll want to turn off the AI processing modes. I think the C2’s ‘Cinematic Movement’ setting is rather subtle and works well, but you can certainly disable it as the TV looks quite good with just Real Cinema enabled. As for Fine Tune Color Adjustment, it boosts the saturation and luminance of every color; low does it less, and high boosts all colors significantly. This makes colors inaccurate, and I’ve actually never seen anyone use this. We recommend you leave it to off, or if you want to calibrate your TV you can set it to User and user calibration tools (or hire a calibrator). Hope this helps!
For your Cinema mode do you use Super Resolution, Noise Reduction, MPEG Noise Reduction and Smooth Graduation? If yes, putting them on low and the two noise reduction settings on auto is alright?
For Noise Reduction and MPEG Noise Reduction are they better on low or auto?
Thank you!
I can turn noise reduction on in filmmaker mode and all my AI settings are unlocked. Cinema settings however has just AI brightness grayed out. The cinema home setting does not.
Same on mine. I can actually fully customised SDR & HDR Filmmaker modes with all AI settings available too while HDR and Dolby Vision Cinema modes does not allow AI Brightness Setting.
