Hi there! Yes Filmmaker Mode and Cinema Mode are very similar in brightness!
Another question, 33 Brightness is 100 nits in Game Optimiser (SDR) according to your measurements, however 33 is noticeably brighter in other modes. Which value would be closest to 100 nits in the other modes, like Expert Dark or Filmmaker?
Is it similiarly brighter with Filmmaker mode as it is with Cinema mode as opposed to Game Optimizer picture mode?
I know this review is old. But I’d imagine this would apply to other displays than just this one too. To the question; since the display reaches a peak brightness of around 450-460 nits with GAME HDR on, and peak brightness OFF (certified TB400 mode), why does it clip at 400 nits in all HDR calibration settings, in Windows and in-game? I’m confused, should I still set it to 460?
When you guys say that Cinema mode with dynamic tone mapping off offers a brighter experience as opposed to Game Optimizer, are you guys just talking about the “picture mode”? Did you keep the “Game Optimizer”- mode on in the “General” tab? As there’s two “Game Optimizer” settings available. I’ve tried just changing the picture mode, and even when setting clipping point to 2200 on Cinema (compared to 800 with HGIG), HGIG just looks brighter to me for some reason. Both of these clipping points were correct for me.
*Found the issue. Some games simply don’t support a peak brightness high enough, or they can’t read Windows HDR calibration properly. In games where you actually can adjust it, the difference, especially in color luminance becomes noticeable. FMM is in-deed better.
Does this display use DSC to achieve 4k/144hz?
“However, it increases a lot more with fixed 60Hz signals, but this isn’t an issue if you start gaming at a higher refresh rate and use VRR as the refresh rate drops.” What exactly is meant by this? Does the high input lag increase not occur in VRR? Say you have a scenario like Elden Ring where the game is hard-locked to 60 FPS, does the input lag get high in this scenario if VRR is used?
This is something I’d like to know as well.
