There are critical problems with Apple MacBook Pros that are difficult or impossible to assess without months of use. In particular, Apple has designed a lifetime into their hardware which is short. There are fatal hardware design flaws that Apple has known about for years. In particular, components that cannot tolerate high heat or voltage are adjacent to components that run hot or carry high voltages. Moreover, Appleโs answer to right-to-repair legislation has been to comply with the letter of the law while thumbing its nose at the spirit. Repair is typically possible in name only, especially if it requires replacement of a hardware component (even replacement with a new Apple component). Be warned. Apple aims to rob you.

Update: Weโve updated the Ports section because the macOS 14.6 firmware update has added support for an additional external display (with the lid closed) on the base M3 model.
would this be a viable option compared to the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air? only a RTINGS review can tell us.
[spoiler: the answer is absolutely yes]
When purchasing, RTINGS might want to buy the most popular version, which seems to be the M3 Pro 11-core 18GB 512GB config (see https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookpro/comments/17rj61n/which_14inch_m3_macbook_pro_did_you_order/).
Weโve purchased the product and are waiting for it to arrive in our lab.
Only the models with M3 Pro/Max have a 72.4Wh battery, the model with M3 has 70Wh https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/
Hi,
Thanks for pointing it out. Weโll update the review as soon as possible.
Update: Weโve updated the Battery section to specify that the base M3 model has a slightly smaller 70Wh battery.
