sony x90j new grandyan process and will the sharpness and smoothing settings be updated In movies and hdr movie black uniformity, the scores dropped a lot. Is it a real 10-bit panel in sony x90j, I would be glad if you could give information about it, by the way, I returned from x90k to x90j again.

Unfortunately, we really don’t know if it has a 10-bit panel or not, as it’s nearly impossible to know for sure. Some of the scores are a bit off at the moment, we’re working on an update to our scoring that’ll improve the scores.

A true 10-bit panel can display 1 billion colors, while an 8-bit +2 frc panel can display 16 million colors. You wrote that you can’t display wide color gamut, can it be a sign that this panel is 8+2 frc for sony x90j, I usually take you as a reference and research the television :)

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as that. A good 8+frc panel can actually display a wider color gamut than a lower quality 10-bit. The fact that it doesn’t display a wide color gamut doesn’t necessarily indicate that it’s an 8+frc panel. Even with an ultra high-speed camera, dithering is extremely difficult to detect, and we’ve never been able to detect it consistently. The only way to know for sure would be to dismantle the TV, identify the exact panel used, and look up the datasheet for that panel. Since we need to keep these TVs in a functional state for further tests, this isn’t possible.

I was convinced of most of the information that we observed and examined on the x90j. Although I used x90k, a few features did not satisfy me. I returned my television because I could not bring the gamma +3 level in hdr content and sdr. because i think sony image processing and upgrading low resolution is excellent many people compare it with lg oled and samsung Qn90a do you think sony is color accuracy and clarity sharpness can i see lg c2 and samsung Q90b i don’t think sony oled because i think abl is too aggressive my general use is film platforms satellite I have a mixed use of game football on the computer, do you think LG and Samsung upper segment TVs will be a regret for me or should I stay at Sony?

  6. Update: We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for four months in our Accelerated Longevity Test.

We have over 40 TVs to update to 1.11, so we’re not sure when we’ll get to the X90J specifically. Once we do, we’ll make sure to update this thread!

Yes they will be, you can see a complete list of the TVs we’ll be updating here. As for when, we’re not sure unfortunately and we don’t have a specific time frame at the moment. Sorry about that.

Hello.. In the v1.10 test that you recently conducted for the x90j TV, although this method was not in the description, the Blooming score of the TV decreased by one unit. I wanted to know if this happened in the new test or if there was another reason? in compare between this tv and its newer model, x90k, your experts found the x90j TV to be a better TV in terms of blooming and said that it controls better. Comparing the pictures you posted for the blooming part of the two TVs, it is quite clear that the x90j TV has less blooming in the dark room than the x90k…but now the x90k has a higher score in the blooming part…what is the reason?

Hello! The blooming score of the X90J hasn’t changed at all since it was first introduced in 1.09, it’s always been a 6. As for the text comparison, unfortunately that’s from before either TV was retested on 1.09 with the dedicated blooming test, so it was based on our old, flawed methodology. The current scores in 1.9 and 1.10 aren’t perfect, either, as we had to fine tune our blooming test in 1.11.

Hello… we are still waiting for your final test and method for this TV… but one question: is it worth rejecting this TV and getting Qn90b or x90k for ps5 instead?

  16. Update: Converted to Test Bench 1.11. With this update, we’ve added a new Upscaling: Sharpness Processing test and revamped our Blooming test so the scores and picture better match the real world experience. With this change, it was necessary to remove the Black Crush test. Finally, we’ve updated our usage scores to better align our scores with user expectations.

Hi, just wondering why text descriptions are missing on some sections (eg Blooming)?

Hi, just wondering why text descriptions are missing on some sections (eg Blooming)?

Hi! It’s because we’ve updated this TV to newer methodology since we first tested it, so some sections weren’t there when we wrote the initial review. As we have limited resources, we’re not able to add text to the new sections on all of our reviews.
