Calibration Question

Im curious when reading the calibration settings for this TV, and for other Samsung TV’s I suppose… Do you recommend the color space be set to AUTO or NATIVE? Also for the 2 point and 20 point white space settings, I’ve noticed I have to input them for each type of content.. when switching between inputs and SDR, HDR, etc.. Should these values remain the same for SDR and HDR content?

Oh I just asked in the Alienware AW3225QF discussion if this will be reviewed. Seems like people started voting, since this monitor seems to be coming in with a great price to performance ratio. Interesting months ahead for sure!

There are some who did pre-order this one and their e-mail said “26th of February 2024” so we can count on that for now as an official release date. Too bad all brands are tight-lipped on release dates and also to a whole community’s discussion about apparent bugs and packaging damage (see AW3225QF).

I am interested to see how the Peak 1000 mode compares to True Black 400 in color accuracy and brightness. It seems like some previous monitors were ok to use in Peak 1000 mode for higher brightness without much sacrifice in accuracy but others fall apart if you do that.

I also would like to know if there is any way to completely disable ABL in SDR, either with a setting in the OSD or by manually lowering the brightness to some base level where it stops happening. Resizing a window or moving white windows between monitors should ideally not affect brightness at all.

Seems dead here anyways, until they update the testbench situation at least.

Pricing of the for US and EU is completely off, $950 for US 1300 euros and over for europe. On amazon for spain the lowest price is set at 1700 euros. Never thought I’d say that Asus price is resoanable considering it falls between Dell and MSI.

It’s insane. Not even one person will buy this monitor, at least if they used Google a little before spending over $1000 or €1000. It feels like a complete rip-off when seeing the $950 price tag plus $100 steam gift-card promo.

Pre-Ordered mine yesterday in Canada. Might get by the end of the month. Retailer’s website indicated a 31 March release date, while it was available for pre-order. Today 5 March, website just shows out of stock.

I’m really interested to see what the input lag is at 60hz and 120hz since the 27” MSI QD-OLED has a considerable amount at these refresh rates! I have a LG C2 and I fell like it’s more responsive than this monitor. I could be wrong, but I need to know for sure.

what will likely decide your purchase is availability.. good luck getting your hands on either. I assume you meant the ASUS ROG Swift pg32ucdm . The PG34WCDM is an entirely different monitor, having a curve (gross).

No, I’m talking about the curved OLED 34" monitor. And I already bought it. It’s on the way to me. Will get it in 2 days or so. In Norway both are available but I wanted a monitor with very low lag and latency. The PG34WCDM was by far the best of all reviews I’ve read. It even got 93% here at RTINGS. The lag and input latency is like 0,03 ms which is basically nothing and that’s the most important thing for a competitive gamer like me. I compete in Tekken. I literally don’t care about any other property of a screen than the latency and lagging. I never even read the paragraph about the colors and ergonomics or whatever. Just that it has HDMI 2.1

The price and availability situation in Europe with regard to this model is downright absurd, I have been watching it for about 3 months now. The monitor is practically unavailable, and when it is available in stores for a short time, it is only in very small quantities and always at the RRP (€1400) or even higher.

The same applies to the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, which is sold by retailers for prices between €1700 and €1800 whenever it is occasionally available.

You can buy two LG 42" / 48" OLED TVs for this price!

On this can you test input lag before updating firmware and after updating firmware? I’m curious how bad 60hz input lag was on this monitor prior to the update.

PG32UCDM has worse input lag and the gimmick screen size reduction feature has a noticeable loss in detail through scaling. Overall the only reason to own the ASUS over the AW3225QF is if you want Dolby Vision and flat, otherwise the MSI MPG 321URX is the move.

Glad it’s in the lab, can you test the color accuracy of DCIP3 vs User color in HDR mode, and can you test if the input lag changes if you’re in the professional color modes like SRGB instead of the game color modes like user?

I wonder where that 10/10 SDR picture grade comes from when the accuracy in sRGB emulation picture mode is rated at 7.5 and indeed seems lackluster from the measurements…

I have an issue to report with the Panel Protect function. I have tried all available firmware versions and 2 different physical units and the issue is always present.

In the monitor OSD, if the Power Button setting is set to “standby”, then the Panel Protect function will not trigger automatically any more. I believe one cycle will function as normal after the setting is changed, but afterwards, Panel Protect will not trigger automatically at idle after 4 hours of use as intended. Instead, you must manually run Panel Protect, or it will force itself to run after 16 hours of cumulative use, interrupting whatever you’re doing. I believe I experienced this issue with Protect Notice on Auto as well as 16 Hours, but it’s possible that it only happens when set to 16 Hours. But this setting is just meant to change if you see a notification for panel protect after 4 hours of use, it shouldn’t affect whether the function runs automatically at idle or not; that should always happen regardless.

This presents a potential major problem for durability as only running panel protect every 16 hours is not the intended use of this monitor. MSI support has not confirmed to me that they have been able to replicate this issue or that they are working on it. If you could test this and report your findings I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, we did not come across this issue during testing. MSI just released a new firmware update that could potentially fix the issue. But since we did not have the problem, we cannot confirm that it does fix it for sure.

I think it’s pretty safe to assume that it was done with the latest firmware.

The latest firmware V.011 was released during the time of this testing, so thats why I am wondering. In one screenshot of the OSD you can see V.010. Nevertheless the MSI MPG 271QRX model suffered from high input latency until V.011. Considering that both models belong to the same family, it could be that the MSI MPG 321QRX has high input latency with V.10 and below as well.
