Holy cow!
Too bad they’re going to be brought down by the fact that they’re buds and can’t have soundstage.
Same on my 55U8H. Xbox Series X says the TV doesn’t support DTS:X (nor 5.1/7.1 uncompressed unfortunately). I can’t get the TV to pass a DTS-HD MA signal either. It gets downmixed to straight DTS. With the Xbox hooked directly to my receiver (older Onkyo TX-SR605) I get DTS-HD MA and multichannel uncompressed no problem. I’m utilizing a SHARC-V2 eARC processor from Thenaudio to get passthrough audio from the Xbox through the TV to my receiver since the receiver doesn’t support ARC/eARC. I wish it was able to split the audio signal and send it directly to the receiver as that would be ideal. Instead you’re at the mercy of your TV’s eARC capabilities.
Yeah, and sometimes even Dolby Atmos doesn’t work within the Xbox… Sometimes I just get the option to do Stereo, sometimes Dolby Digital and DTS Digital… Really thinking of keeping the TV or returning it. It looks good, but has some flaws, the menus and UI sometimes work, sometimes doesn’t.
I doubt it’s the TV. I have the same issue on U8H with Xbox X but DTS X and Atmos works fine with my 4k blu ray player using passthrough on the TV. Also had the same exact issue on the U8G with Xbox X and it was fixed by Microsoft Xbox update.
Interesting. I will check on my Bluray player. Thanks for the heads up.
Do you have the port for the soundbar changed from hdmi standard to enhanced? If not, that’s the problem, Those HDMI 3 and 4 ports need to be changed out of the box, just like the tv power settings that are turned down. Go to the input with it on, then hit the button above the netflix button, and it will bring up a menu. It should be in menu that the settings button brings up, but for some reason, this other button left of the play/pause button is the one that does it to get the most out of the tv.
Hey all!
I’m just hoping to to offer some information on our end. Every single Hisense TV we bought and tested this year passed the DTS:X test, so we’re confident in the results published in our review. If any of you folks continue to experience issues though, it might be worth reaching out to the manufacturer for technical support! As for DV, the Xbox only supports HDR10 at 4k, but Dolby Vision is supported at 1440p, so that is correct. I think part of the issue here is that Hisense advertises this TV to support 4k @120Hz DV, but it doesn’t actually work (at least not during our testing). Sorry about that!
