Lower HDR Peak Brightness in Game Mode?

On my unit, I get a little over 1100 nits on a 10% window in Custom mode. But in Game mode, otherwise calibrated, I can only get about 850 nits in HDR on the same 10% pattern. I find it strange you guys didn’t find the same discrepancy–any thoughts on the difference? What settings did you use to get 1000+ nits in Game mode?

I also found that Game Mode has much more noticeable blooming than Custom, but that may be because I have Local Dimming set to High for both modes. Medium might have a mess noticeable difference…but useful to know as I know some users prefer High like me.

The cable is not detachable, yet in the Wired section, it is “Yes” with a 9.7 score?

  5. Update: We’ve converted this review to Test Bench 1.6, which updates how we measure latency. We’ve updated and renamed the following test groups: Wired Connection, Bluetooth Connection, and Wireless Connection (Dongle). We’ve also added new codec latency measurements and provided an audio sample of recorded latency.

    Hi phongvu99,

You are correct. The cable is not detachable. We are currently bringing these headphones to our latest TB 1.6 Latency. Once that is done, we will update the “Detachable” connection to a “No” as this is a mistake in the review.

  7. Update: We’ve corrected ‘Detachable Cable’ from ‘Yes’ to ‘No’ in Wired.

Hey and thanks for this question! We’ve heard a lot of reports about changes to the HyperX Cloud II since HP acquired HyperX. Obviously there have been some cosmetic differences: the interior logo has changed, the HyperX logo is now embossed rather than embroidered, the colours are slightly different and there’s no case. Some users also report changes in comfort due to a new headband design and even claim that the sound profile is significantly different. The official line from HyperX is that the product is exactly the same, save for the logo changes. We don’t have the data to corroborate this and haven’t tested the HP version so it’s hard to see beyond the subjectivity of individual user reports. That said, the quantity of these reports is concerning and it’s something we’d like to look into. We’ll update the review if we get more information.

However, we do feel that there’s value in our review of the Kingston version. There are still plenty of these available on the used market and they can occasionally be found on shelves. The Kingston version was made from 2015-2021, so there’s quite a few in circulation still.

I’d also like some help, mainly for Foobar2000 where the equalizer isn’t very in depth. I’m using this currently: https://i.imgur.com/Q8EuvGM.png I’d also like a better ffmoeg superequalizer preset for MPV. Not too comfortable using system-wide presets.
