How likely is this monitor to have permanent burn-in? I’m thinking of upgrading from a pretty old monitor and been looking at OLED monitors, but a lot of them state risk of burn-in. How can you mitigate this? Is it still worth the purchase?

  2. Update: Added that the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM has an even higher Refresh Rate.

I find this odd as on the msi site it claims: “DisplayPort: Up to 3440x1440@175Hz (YCbCr 10-bit).” Also displayninja review claims it has : “DP1.4 with dsc” I plan on doing some of my own testing tonight but I feel like this answer may possibly be incorrect? At the very least someone is wrong

It is a unique case, but our tests consider the max refresh rate with chroma 4:4:4, and with a 10-bit signal, we were only able to get a max refresh rate of 144Hz. This means it doesn’t use DSC to get a higher refresh rate with a 4:4:4 signal.

It is odd but unfortunately it doesn’t support DSC. You can get a higher refresh rate by sending chroma 4:2:2 instead, but that just makes the text clarity worse.

Is the text clarity really bad if you do a lot of office work? I’m thinking of upgrading from my Asus PG348Q to get some HDR and the KVM as I use this for both work and gaming. But I’m pretty nervous about the text clarity. (And a little about the burn-in, with my start menu always on screen while working.)

    Hello,

Text clarity is really something that’s a personal preference, so I really can’t say if you’ll enjoy it or not. Personally, I’m not a fan of the text clarity on the QD-OLEDs, mainly because I use a 4k monitor for work, so just the drop in pixel density alone bothers me. However, other people here at Rtings don’t mind the text clarity, and you can read about our own impressions using the AW3423DW here. That said, the risk of burn-in is likely more a concern for you, especially if you have the taskbar on the screen multiple hours a day.

Hi, can you explain why this screen on “Max Refresh Rate Over DP @ 10-bit” is limited to 144 Hz. Is it not compatible with DSC ? Which should be strange according to his price range ?
