Direct LED vs Edge LED

LG UM7300 is having Direct LED backlighting while nanocell LG SM8100 and SM8600 is having Edge LED. Why is that? In your rating also LG UM7300 vs LG SM8600 black and gray uniformity is better in UM 7300. Is it worthy to go for LG SM8600 for the better processor and the advertised wider color gamut? Also the peak brightness is better in UM7300 which doesn’t have Dolby vision support while the latter with lower peak brightness is dolby certified. Are all these just advertising gimmicks?

    Manufacturers use a different number for marketing which doesn't correspond to the real refresh rate of the TV. We measure the TV to determine the true refresh rate. See more information here.
