This TV apparently has no standby mode. What that means is that if it’s connected to a Windows PC and the PC goes to sleep, the TV turns off after 15 minutes (default setting) after losing the video signal. When the PC wakes (say, by moving the mouse), the display doesn’t come back on like PC monitors have done for the last 20 years. Instead, you have to reach for the power button on the display or press the power button on the remote. Meanwhile, Windows wakes, panics when it detects no monitor attached, and moves all windows into the top left corner of the screen! You can increase the period between the time that the Sony loses the video signal and the time it turns off, but that isn’t very green. Moreover, when that period expires, the TV makes you press a menu button to keep it from turning off. Very annoying!! Is this behavior common to all TVs used as a PC monitor?
