The Simplicity S65 is a basic cordless stick/handheld vacuum. It offers excellent performance on high-pile carpet and clears a good amount of debris on low-pile carpet and bare floors. It's also easy to maintain and incurs few recurring costs. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel well-built and can be a bit of a hassle to store.

8.3 Stairs

The Simplicity S65 is an excellent option for cleaning your stairs. Its cordless design and lightweight plastic construction make it easy to clean larger staircases. Compared To Other Vacuums

The Simplicity S65 is a basic cordless stick/handheld vacuum. It returns versatile overall performance and is easier to maintain than many other alternatives, like the Dyson V8. However, it doesn't feel particularly premium.

If you're looking for alternatives, consider our recommendations for the best cordless vacuums, the best cordless stick vacuums, and the best vacuums for high-pile carpet.

Samsung Jet 90 Complete

The Samsung Jet 90 Complete is better than the Simplicity S65. The Samsung has a longer maximum battery life and takes less time to recharge, incurs slightly less recurring costs, and clears debris more effectively on bare floors and low-pile carpet. Meanwhile, the Simplicity is less demanding in regular maintenance and weighs slightly less.

JASHEN V16

The Simplicity S65 is better than the JASHEN V16. The Simplicity is easier to maintain, has a larger dirt compartment, is more maneuverable, and offers better performance on bare floors and low and high-pile carpet. Meanwhile, the JASHEN incurs fewer recurring costs and lasts longer on a single charge.

Shark Vertex Lightweight Cordless [IZ440H, IZ462H, IZ483H]

The Simplicity S65 and Shark Vertex Lightweight Cordless each have their own advantages, so one may suit you better than the other depending on your needs. The Shark is better-built, has a larger dirt compartment, superior battery performance, and comes with more tools and accessories. It also does a better job of cleaning debris on bare floors. Meanwhile, the Simplicity offers better performance on low and high-pile carpet, is lighter overall, and easier to maintain.

Shark Rocket Pet Pro

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro is a better overall vacuum than the Simplicity S65. The Shark is easier to store, offers slightly better battery performance, has a surface type adjustment feature, and performs significantly better on low-pile carpet and bare floors. It's also a little more maneuverable. Conversely, the Simplicity offers superior performance on high-pile carpet.

Miele Triflex HX1

The Miele Triflex HX1 is better than the Simplicity S65 for most use cases. The Miele is better built, incurs lower recurring costs, is easier to maneuver, and delivers superior cleaning performance on bare floors and low-pile carpets. Its unique three-in-one design also allows you to configure it as a handheld, upright, or stick vacuum. Meanwhile, the Simplicity cleans more debris from high-pile carpets, has a larger dirt compartment, and takes less time to charge.

Dyson V7

The Dyson V7 and Simplicity S65 each have their strengths, and one may suit you better than the other depending on your needs. The Dyson has lower recurring costs, is easier to store, comes with more tools and brushes, and delivers better performance on low-pile carpets. The Simplicity has a larger dirt compartment, has a better battery performance, is easier to maintain, and delivers better performance on bare floors.

Wyze Cordless Vacuum

The Wyze Cordless Vacuum is slightly better overall than the Simplicity S65. The Wyze is easier to store, feels lighter, has a longer maximum battery life, and delivers better performance on low and high-pile carpet. Conversely, the Simplicity vacuum has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, has a larger dustbin, does a better job on bare floors, and charges faster.

Tineco PURE ONE X

The Simplicity S65 and Tineco PURE ONE X each have advantages, meaning one may suit you better than the other, depending on your needs. The Simplicity has far fewer parts requiring regular maintenance and a dustbin that's roughly twice as large. It's also easier to maneuver and clears more debris on low and high-pile carpets. Meanwhile, the Tineco has an automatic suction power adjustment feature, comes with far more tools and accessories, and clears more debris on bare floors. It also charges faster and has a much longer battery life, though, unlike the Simplicity, the Tineco's battery isn't designed for removal.

Stick/Handheld

The Simplicity S65 feels reasonably well-built. It's mostly made of plastic, though its wand is made of lightweight metal. It doesn't feel particularly sturdy overall, and parts of it feel as though they could break if the vacuum is dropped, especially its clear plastic dirt compartment.

Thankfully, out-of-the-box assembly is quite easy thanks to the vacuum's use of easy-clip mechanisms.

User Maintenance

This vacuum is impressively easy to maintain. There are relatively few parts that require regular maintenance.

  • Dirt compartment: The dirt compartment can be uncoupled from the main body of the vacuum and emptied over a garbage can after each use since it's quite small. You can also clean it with warm water, but be sure to leave it to dry completely before fitting it back in place.
  • Brushroll: You can access the brushroll by unlocking a cover on the side of the vacuum head with a coin. You can brush off any stuck-on debris by hand and cut away hair wraps with a pair of scissors.

This vacuum has low recurring costs.

  • HEPA filter: You can access the HEPA filter by removing a cover on top of the vacuum's main body, then twisting it counterclockwise to remove it. It can't be washed and should be replaced once a year, though the manufacturer recommends replacing it after six months if you suffer from allergies.

You can buy a replacement filter from the manufacturer's website.

The Simplicity S65 Standard has alright battery performance. Used in a handheld configuration in its 'Low Speed' suction mode, it yields over half an hour of continuous use, which should be enough to clean some smaller spaces. However, in its 'High Speed' mode with its extension wand and vacuum head fitted in place, it supplies under 10 minutes of runtime, so you need to work quickly when dealing with larger messes. Take a look at the Wyze Cordless Vacuum if you're looking for a cordless vacuum with a longer battery life. It's worth noting that battery life can vary drastically depending on your usage habits. If you want a rough estimate of the remaining battery, you can look at the vacuum's indicator light, which turns from solid blue to red at lower charge levels.

This vacuum has good maneuverability. It's light enough to be picked up and carried over minor obstructions like electrical cords, and switching tools and accessories is quick and simple, though the wand can be a little hard to detach. However, you have to crouch fairly deeply to clean under couches, tables, and other low-lying furniture. Unfortunately, rug tassels can get caught in the brushroll.
