We’ve purchased the product and are waiting for it to arrive in our lab.
I appreciate the work that you do on these ratings. I would have to respectfully disagree with your conclusions on the BobSweep Dustin. The BobSweep Dustin was the first robot vacuum that we purchased because it was on sale at Sam’s Club; We were surprised at how well it worked. Because of reviews here and other places… when we purchased robot vacuums for our other two floors we decided to go with higher rated vacuums.
This ended up being quite surprising. The higher rated more expensive vacuums did not perform as well as the Dustin. Some banged into furniture and spun around while in contact with our chimney, damaging themselves; they spun around while in contact with valuable antiques and damaged the finish… Some ran over and got stuck on objects such as shoes and small toys that got in their way. They got stuck under furniture. Most disturbingly they would run out of juice before finishing a floor, then they would start-up automatically while we were trying to sleep. The apps did not work as well
I didn’t do any conclusive tests on the vacuum power, but when I put my hand in front of the exhaust outlet while each was set on their highest suction setting the Bobsweep had more air coming out of it than the more expensive vacuums. We eventually replaced them all with Bobsweeps; we have two Dustins and one Ultra. We have been using them for approximately 6 months and could not be happier with their performance. I do not understand the results of the tests here and other places.
We have a long-haired cat who sheds constantly. I am able to pull matted up fur out of the bags in the base station bags instead before replacing them. We have pulled enough clumped up cat fur out of the bags to completely fill a 6-gallon waste basket.
I would add that the app and the firmware on the Bobsweeps have been updated since the original review was written. Also we have been able to buy replacement brushes, bags, and filters from Amazon, Home Depot, and Ali-Express for a fraction of what Bobsweep charges for them.

Hey redteddy!
Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying your Dustin and having a better experience with it than what our results show. We can try the new firmware version and app on our performance tests again and see if it makes a different. To set proper expectations with you, due to other projects this might take a few weeks to get done, but we will definitely revisit it.
For the recurring cost section of our review, to ensure comparability between other models, we always base our score on what the original manufacturer recommends. While there are definitely good/cheaper third-party options, the OEM parts that are cheaper and/or require fewer replacements will be the ones that score higher.
Thanks again for your feedback, as it helps us continuously improve the quality of our reviews.
Have a great day!
Update: We’ve converted this review to Test Bench 1.0, which updates our performance testing to include new tests to evaluate Obstacle Adaptability, Obstacle Avoidance, Height Clearance, and Threshold Clearance. We’ve also introduced new performance usages. For more information, see our changelog.
