Test Bench 1.0
Changelog

Updated

As always, our test methodologies depend on your feedback to improve. While we expect our Air Fryer 1.0 test bench to cover what most people want to know when shopping for an air fryer, it doesn't cover everything, and our efforts may not align with exactly what matters to you.

The main draw of air fryers is that they're a quick, easy way to make crispy foods, so our methodology is designed to let you compare air fryers' speed and ability to make evenly air-fried, well-cooked food. Since you can also use many air fryers for other cooking methods like baking and dehydrating, we also looked at aspects like fan speed and temperature range to assess versatility.

It's worth noting that our methodology is devoted to basket-style air fryers, including single and dual-basket models. We also tested some popular models with extra features, like a multi-cooker that can air fry and slow cook and a high-end air fryer that introduces water mist into the cooking process. If you're interested in seeing any particular product or type of product we haven't included, please let us know.

We found that basket size (specifically the available cooking surface area in the basket) had the biggest impact on air frying performance. This article from the R&D team goes into more detail about our investigation into air fryers. If you just want to see the best options, check out our recommendations for the best air fryers.

If you have any suggestions to improve our air fryer reviews, we encourage you to leave a comment on any page or email feedback@rtings.com. None of the tests on our website would be as good as they are now without your help!
