Your bedroom should be your sanctuary from the cold, harsh, and, yes, sometimes dry realities of the world. If you're looking for a more comfortable night's rest, it's worth investing in a humidifier. The best models for this kind of use should balance compact size, low operating noise, and a runtime sufficient for the entire night, so you never need to wake up and refill a tank.
That said, there's no one-size-fits-all solution—the best option depends on your budget, the space you need to humidify, and whether you want a cool or warm mist unit. We've tested 20 humidifiers, and below are our recommendations for the best based on their performance, price, and feature sets.
If you're looking for a more general overview of the humidifier market, see our recommendations for the best humidifiers. Conversely, if you're dealing with excess moisture in another bedroom in your house, see our picks for the best bedroom dehumidifiers.
The Carepod One is the best bedroom humidifier we've tested. It's compact for a unit capable of this kind of humidification capacity, making it suitable for bedrooms of all sizes. The Carepod's biggest selling point is its easy-to-clean design: there are only five main components to wash, most of them dishwasher-safe. The rounded design carries over to the inside, so there are no tight crevices or hard-to-reach spots. Like most ultrasonic units, it operates virtually noise-free, so it won't be distracting while you try to catch some shut-eye.
Unfortunately, this is a fairly stripped-down device, especially for something in this high of a price bracket. It lacks an integrated humidistat that would allow the unit to adjust its mist level in real time and has no Wi-Fi connectivity, so you can't control the unit while you're away from home. Its max runtime of approximately 10 hours is also on the shorter end of the scale, though on the upside, it does have an auto-off function that'll turn the humidifier off once its tank is empty. Though it's not consistently available from major retailers, you can purchase it directly from Carepod's website.
If you're shopping at a slightly lower price point, the Vitruvi Cloud is worth a look. This cool misting ultrasonic model has a sleek, modern appearance and a compact body, so you can easily set it up on a nightstand or dresser. Its humidification capacity is marginally lower than that of the Carepod One, but it should still do just fine in all but the most palatial of bedrooms. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to its water tank, enabling you to use it as a diffuser. Its narrow shape makes the tank a little tricky to clean by hand, but the unit is easy to take apart and sanitize. As with the Carepod, it operates almost completely inaudibly, and you can use its Night Mode feature to turn off the already unobtrusive indicator lights.
Unfortunately, its main downside is runtime; at its highest setting, its 1.5 L (0.4 gal) top-fill tank will run dry in just six hours, which is an annoyance if you plan to run it overnight. On the upside, you can expect a longer runtime at lower misting settings, and it'll turn off automatically once its tank runs out.
The Levoit Classic 300S is the best humidifier for bedrooms at a mid-range price point we've tested. This model doesn't feel as premium compared to the pricier Carepod One and Vitruvi Cloud. It's considerably more of a hassle to wash, with a more complex design and a water tank with many hard-to-reach corners. With that said, this cool misting unit is packed with more features than either. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity that lets you start the unit remotely through the VeSync companion app before bed and an integrated humidistat that lets it maintain your desired humidity level while sleeping. There's also an essential oils tray.
Its top-filling water tank has a generous usable capacity of 6.8 L (1.8 gal), allowing for a substantial runtime of nearly 40 hours, even at its highest misting level. Its main downside relative to the aforementioned Carepod and Vitruvi is its comparatively low humidification capacity, so it'll take a little longer to bring your room up to your desired humidity level.
The Crane Droplet is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a bedroom humidifier at a budget-friendly price point. It lacks the Levoit Classic 300S' fancier quality-of-life features, with no smartphone connectivity and no humidistat. Its humidification capacity is also pretty low compared to the pricier models on this list, and as a result, it's best suited for smaller bedrooms.
With that out of the way, this humidifier still has a lot going for it; it's easier to clean than the finicky, complex Levoit. While its minimum runtime of 15 hours isn't market-leading, it's nothing to sneeze at either, and it'll certainly still get you through a night of use. Unlike other humidifiers in this price range, the Crane also boasts an auto-off feature, so you won't have to babysit the unit while running it overnight.
The Levoit LV600S is a hybrid cool/warm mist humidifier with a higher capacity than the Levoit Classic 300S and the same wide assortment of smart features. That said, its bulky size can make it somewhat impractical for smaller bedrooms.
See our reviewThe Crane Adorable is a good alternative to the Crane Droplet, as it delivers very similar overall performance. Its cute design and quiet operation make it a good option for kids' bedrooms.

That said, there is no single best option that will suit everybody; your needs will depend on your budget, the size of your bedroom, your tolerance for operating noise, and whether you like having a device with convenience features like Wi-Fi connectivity or a humidistat. If you'd like to choose for yourself, here's the list of all our humidifier reviews.
