The Vornado EV100 is a cool-misting evaporative humidifier, sitting below the Vornado EV200 and Vornado EVDC300M in terms of capacity and price. It's meant for smaller spaces, with an advertised capacity of 300 ft2. It has a single water tank with a usable capacity of 4.5 L (1.2 gal) and can run for up to 50 hours. It also features a built-in humidistat and will automatically adjust its fan and mist settings depending on your desired humidity level.
The Vornado EV100 is okay for general home use. Its low humidification capacity means it's best suited for smaller spaces, like bedrooms or offices. Cleaning out the humidifier can be a bit of a tedious process, especially if you use it often. That said, its extremely long runtime and automatic fan speed and misting adjustment allow for a pretty hands-off user experience.
Very long runtime.
Built-in humidistat.
No automatic tank-empty power shut-off.
Low humidification capacity.
The Vornado EV100 is a decent choice for use in bedrooms. It's fairly small and can be set up in the corner of a room, though it might be a little too large to comfortably fit on a smaller night table. Its max runtime of approximately 50 hours allows for worry-free overnight operation, even considering the lack of an automatic shut-off for when its tank runs out of water. It can also automatically adjust its fan and mist settings depending on your desired humidity level, so there's no need to wake up in the middle of the night to fiddle with settings.
Very long runtime.
Built-in humidistat.
Fairly quiet operation.
No automatic tank-empty power shut-off.
A little bulky for a unit with low humidification capacity.
The Vornado EV100 has reasonable maintenance requirements. Fully disassembling the unit requires a screwdriver, so it isn't as effortless a process as it is with some other humidifiers. Thankfully, there aren't that many parts that need to be cleaned, but unfortunately, none are dishwasher-safe.
Few parts to clean.
Tools are required for complete disassembly.
The Vornado EV100's humidification capacity is poor. It will struggle to efficiently humidify big, open-concept living spaces or whole apartments. That said, it will do well in smaller bedrooms or studies.
Low humidification capacity.
The Vornado EV100 is efficient. Its power draw isn't significant, though its moisture output is comparatively less than other models with similar consumption. Like any cool-mist unit, it's best used in warmer, drier environments rather than colder areas.
Good overall efficiency.
The Vornado EV100 is only available in a single color variant: White. For those interested, here's the product label.

The Vornado EV100 is a cool-mist evaporative humidifier for smaller spaces. Unlike many other humidifiers in this price range, it has an onboard humidistat that varies its fan speed depending on your desired humidity level. Its max runtime of roughly 50 hours is also among the longest we've tested. That said, it's rather bulky for a unit with such a low humidification capacity. It's also more of a hassle to take apart and clean than some other alternatives, like the Honeywell HEV320B.
This unit is a nuisance to clean. There aren't many parts that need cleaning, though none are dishwasher safe. Few parts require tools to remove; like the Vornado EV200, you'll need to remove a retaining screw to detach the fan grille. A long and thin magnetic screwdriver would facilitate the disassembly process. The tank separates from the base unit pretty easily. so you'll need to be careful to keep it from spilling.
The Vornado EV100 is equipped with a humidistat, which allows you to set your desired humidity level and have the unit vary its mist and fan settings to maintain that level. Unfortunately, it lacks an automatic off function for when its tank runs dry.
This humidifier's efficiency is good, but with caveats. Its moisture output is comparable to the Vornado EVDC300, but it consumes noticeably more power, as the latter is equipped with a brushless DC (BLDC) fan motor, compared to the EV100's comparatively power-hungry shaded pole induction motor. The latter type of motor is less efficient due to power losses from their shading pole, which results in comparatively little power going from the motor coil to turn the rotor inside.
This unit's overall efficiency is impressive. It's best used in warmer, drier climates, where the cooling properties of an evaporative unit are most advantageous. If you use the unit a lot in colder months, you'll likely make your heating system work harder, increasing your energy bill slightly.
