The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is a full-size dehumidifier with a 50-pint capacity and is meant for use in large rooms. Some model variants also feature Wi-Fi connectivity, so it can be operated remotely using the Honeywell Smart Dehumidifier companion app on your smartphone.

Our Verdict

7.9 Basement

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is very good for basement use. It has a very high dehumidification capacity, sufficient for larger, open-concept basements. That said, even at its lowest setting, its airflow is a little on the higher side, which can have a slight negative impact on performance in especially cool and humid basements, as the evaporator coils might not be able to get sufficiently cold. It can be set up to drain continuously, which is great for longer usage sessions, but only one product variant has a drain pump that would allow it to drain out to a higher spot.

Pros
  • High dehumidification capacity.
  • High max airflow.
  • Available with Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • High capacity water tank, and can be configured to drain continuously.
Cons
  • Airflow is still quite high at lower fan speeds.
7.0 Bathroom

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is decent for use in bathrooms. It's pretty large, which can make it a bit impractical for use in tighter bathrooms, but the upside of this bulk is that it has a pretty large water tank that won't need to be emptied that often. It also has a drain hole that allows for continuous drainage, though only one model variant has a drain pump, which is something to be aware of if you are planning on having it drain into a sink or any other elevated spot. Overall, its dehumidification performance is excellent.

Pros
  • High dehumidification capacity.
  • High capacity water tank, and can be configured to drain continuously.
Cons
  • Noisy while operating.
  • Bulky design.
7.8 Large Room

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is good for use in large rooms. It has a very high dehumidification capacity and can generate a lot of air movement in bigger spaces. However, this might not be desirable if the room in question is especially cool and humid since it won't allow the evaporator coils to get sufficiently cold. It can get quite noisy, which can be quite annoying if you leave it running while watching TV or entertaining guests.

Pros
  • High dehumidification capacity.
  • High max airflow.
  • Available with Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • High capacity water tank, and can be configured to drain continuously.
Cons
  • Noisy while operating.
6.2 Bedroom

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is mediocre for use in bedrooms. It can be a little too big for smaller rooms, and even at its lowest fan speed, it generates quite a lot of air movement, not to mention heat; this could be annoying if you were to have the device placed nearby while trying to sleep or simply live in an already hot environment. All that being said, it's a great option for larger bedrooms due to its high capacity and fairly wide airflow range.

Pros
  • High dehumidification capacity.
  • Available with Wi-Fi connectivity.
Cons
  • Airflow is still quite high at lower fan speeds.
  • Noisy while operating.
  • Releases a lot of heat.
  • Bulky design.
8.5 Capacity

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR has an excellent capacity. It offers sufficient dehumidification capacity to clear most moisture from even large-sized rooms.

Pros
  • High dehumidification capacity.
Cons
5.8 Noise

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR makes quite a bit of noise. It produces a pretty loud hum while running, which can overpower quieter dialogue on TV or even conversations spoken at lower volumes.

Pros
Cons
  • Noisy while operating.
5.4 Temperature Stability

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is poor in terms of maintaining a stable temperature. It puts out quite a bit of heat when running for extended periods, which is far from ideal if you place your dehumidifier nearby or in a confined space.

Pros
Cons
  • Releases a lot of heat.
  • 7.9 Basement
  • 7.0 Bathroom
  • 7.8 Large Room
  • 6.2 Bedroom

Compared To Other Dehumidifiers

The Honeywell TP70AWKNR is a 50-pint portable dehumidifier. It has a lot in common with some of its peers, with excellent dehumidification capacity and impressive overall efficiency. It's a stellar option for bigger rooms thanks to its ability to generate air movement, though it's a little louder than some other alternatives. If you're planning on setting it up in a bathroom or basement and want to have the unit drain continuously into a sink, high-walled tub, or any other elevated container, do note that only one model variant has a drain pump.

This dehumidifier offers good overall airflow performance. It boasts a reasonably high airflow range. At its highest speed, it can generate a high level of air movement in bigger spaces. That said, like the Frigidaire FFAD5033W1, the Honeywell's lowest fan speed is a little higher than a lot of other dehumidifiers, which can be disruptive in confined spaces. It's also worth noting that lower fan speeds would better cool the evaporator coils, resulting in better dehumidification performance for colder yet still humid environments with denser air, like basements.
